Safety Tips
Never leave a dog alone with a child under five.
Don't leave chemicals where a pet can get to them. Even small quantities of some chemicals can be harmful when licked off fur.
As with children, it is essential that a dog be trained to come when called and and obey commands. This enables the owner to quickly pull the pet from danger.
Check your house for poisonous plants, particularly if you have puppies or kittens around. Common ones include Aloe vera, Elephant ear, Mother-in-law plant, English Ivy, Mushrooms, Holly berries, Oleander, Azaleas, Hyacinth and many others. Check with a local nursery.
Some pet toys and chew bones present a potential choking hazard for your pet when small pieces are broken off or only small pieces of chew bones remain.
